Register for Camp Firelight
Join the Camp Firelight Vacation Bible school adventure. As campers experience music, drama and storytelling, games, arts and crafts, science, and even snacks, they will learn ways to connect with and trust God. And best of all, they will understand they can connect with God at church, home and every area of their lives.
6 to 8:30 p.m., July 11th and 12th
Camp Firelight ends with a family service celebration on the following Sunday, July 14th (10 a.m.), followed by a pizza party complete with family games and activities.
Sunday School for children through age 12
During the school year, Arise offers Sunday School for children ages 4 to 12. We provide a nursery for children under age three year-round.
During summer, children are dismissed from the church service for Kids’ Camp.
We are fortunate to have teachers who have been dedicated to mentoring our children for many years. Our teachers are Barb Stafford and Jen Wagner.
Barb Stafford
Barb has taught Sunday school at Arise from the beginning. She and husband Greg have no children, but are godparents and Auntie and Uncle to many. They have a cat, Fuzzy Butt, and a dog, Kaylee. Barb works at the University of Michigan as an Administrative Assistant in the Environment, Health & Safety department. She loves traveling, camping, canoeing, reading, genealogy and listening to live music. She graduated from Adrian College where she studied history, literature, art and education.
Jen Wagner
Jen's fondest childhood memories are those from Sunday school and Methodist Youth Fellowship at Clarenceville United Methodist Church in Livonia. As soon as she graduated from high school, she began teaching Sunday school at West Outer Drive United Methodist in Detroit, where her dad was Pastor. Working with children, especially focusing on their Christian education, is her passion. Jen and her husband, high school sweetheart, Rob, raised their sons, Wilson and Myles, at Arise Church. God is good--all the time.
